katie dowers, program manager

Katie Dowers

Hello! My name is Katie Dowers, and  I am a one of the Program Managers here at Supported Solution. I’m passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for the individuals we support and building strong relationships with the businesses and community partners we work alongside.

I hold a certification in Positive Behavior Support Specialization (PBS), which has strengthened my ability to support individuals through person-centered, compassionate, and effective strategies that focus on each of their unique needs and strengths. I’m also currently pursuing my Master of Social Work at the University of Washington, where I continue expanding my knowledge in social justice, equity, and empowering communities.

What I love most about this work is getting to know each person’s goals, talents, and potential. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone grow in confidence, develop new skills, and achieve success in ways that are meaningful to them. Each individual that we work with is so different and unique, and it is such a joy seeing them learn more about themselves and the work they can do.

Sebastian Lumsden, LEAD EMPLOYMENT CONSULTANT

Sebastian Lumsden

Hello my name is Sebastian Lumsden! I am a born "seattlelite" and have always loved sharing the experiences and opportunities that this city provides. As a person with disabilities myself, I have a passion for normalizing and supporting the struggles that our people face on small and large scales through their lives. While my time in the educational field has provided me with experience, my expertise comes in out of the box thinking to provide a unique and creative experience for those around me. The world is hard enough, and my goal is to lessen the weight of those who struggle to carry it on their backs.

Outside of work, I’m a Seattle area native that enjoys attending music festivals and spending quality time with family and friends. I also have a deep appreciation for art, which inspires creativity and a fresh perspective in my personal and professional life.

KATE ALARCON, EMPLOYMENT CONSULTANT

KATE ALARCON

Hi, I'm Kate! I was born in Northern California, but I've lived on both coasts and am thrilled to have settled in the beautiful Seattle area. I'm a plant nerd with no talent for gardening, so I make paper sculptures of plants and flowers for fun. I apply that same creativity to supporting clients in finding the right job. I think everyone can flourish in the right soil, and I'm honored to be part of that process here at Supported Solution.

Amber Smith, EMPLOYMENT CONSULTANT

Amber Smith

With over 15 years of dedicated experience in home care for the elderly and those with disabilities, my professional life has always been defined by a commitment to service. This path was inspired early on by my uncle’s journey with cerebral palsy, a personal connection that fueled my five-year tenure as a Special Olympics coach. I believe that every individual deserves a community where they can thrive. That same passion for community drives my work as a crafter and merchant. Whether I’m behind a booth at a Renaissance faire or a convention, I bring my love for hand-wrought artistry to the public. For me, business is about more than just a transaction; it’s about the human connection—whether I’m coaching an athlete, supporting a client at home, or sharing my latest creation with a fellow enthusiast.
